‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ Movie Review – A Full-Blown Attack On Homophobia

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is a funfilled comedy-drama movie starring Ayushman Khurana and Jitendra Kumar in lead roles.

Ayushman is handling the task of Karthik Singh and Jitendra as Aman Tripathi.

This movie has a different plot, mainly focusing on homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

Director of the film Hitesh kewalya and produced by Anand L Rai, Bhushan Kumar, Himanshu Sharma, and Krishan Kuman.

This movie is one of those few mainstream Hindi movies that focus on homosexuality and treating it as a cause of celebration.

Its a journey of two men who are in love with each other.

The story depicts their venture of convincing their families to accept their love life relationship.

The filmi Karthi and his boyfriend Aman who are already in love living life together, but Aman’s family is typical Indian back home family in Allahabad.

There is a scene where Aman explains his love life to his father who’s is a scientist (Gajaraj Rao) and mother (Neena Gupta). Explaining his feeling in chemical terms.

This scene solely conveys how Aman tries to convince their parents, wins the hearts of the audience. Making it the sheer pleasure of love.

Kewalya uses Dilwale Dulhaniya ley Jayenge’s reference to stage the story of opposition from the parents for the true love and couple fighting for the stubborn family, and this movie is not much about homosexuality as it about homophobia.

Ayushman Khurrana comfortably handles the role of Karthik, who is ready to go to war for love and also hyper, one-liners from Khurana get the appreciations.

Ayushman, who is well known for selecting different scripts and delivering the social message.

He also pushes the social message that a gay relationship is the same as straight once.

Jitendra who portrays Aman has equal weightage to the movie gives a warm presence and makes the character authentic.

Overall the chemistry between this too has worked well and brought more profound meaning to the film.

Jitendra whos is widely known as Jeetu Bhaiya and created his own set of the audience from web series like Kota factory, Permanent Roommates.

Apart from leading lead roles, even pairing of Gajaaraj Rao and Neena Gupta as an Aman parent’s chemistry also worked well.

Note that these are the inspiration from Bhadhai ho.

Director Kewalya has also written and directed similar movie Shubha Mangal Saavdhan with a different concept for finding a solution for a relationship which undergoes setback for the Erectile Dysfunction Disorder.

He has also penned for the movies like “age se right,” “Siddharth, the Prisoner” Kewalya won the best dialogue in international film academy and film fair awards.

This movie released on the 21st of February 2020 across India and made a box office collection of 9.55 crore on the first day and stands with the collection of 32.66 crores till now and expected to perform well in upcoming days.
